Position: Archaeologist (3+ Years Experience Required)

Location: Sacramento, California Office

Compensation: Hourly compensation plus overtime – Rate DOE
 
Job Summary:
 
Environmental Consulting Firm is seeking a mid-level archaeologist.  You will be required to be proficient in field surveys and monitoring, document preparation, project coordination, and agency consultation.
 
Education, Skill, & Experience Requirements:
 
Must have a Bachelor’s degree or preferably a Master’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field, and at least 3 years of professional environmental consulting industry experience in California.
 
Must have an understanding of California cultural resource management and experience with all phases of cultural resource compliance work necessary for CEQA, NEPA, and Section 106 for NHPA projects. 
 
Experience with CHRIS record search and literature search, pedestrian surveys, preparing Phase 1 Prehistoric Archeology Reports, Archeological Survey Reports, Historic Property Survey Reports, preparing archeological recordings for newly discovered resources, and Native American society and tribe consultation. 
 
Experience as an archeological lead for large and small cultural resource surveys, excavation projects, site mapping, subsurface archaeological testing, laboratory analysis, artifact cataloging, and conducting construction monitoring for environmental compliance.
 
Candidates must be able to conduct fieldwork for long hours in sometimes inclement weather conditions, including walking up to 10 miles per day, often in rugged terrain, and be able to carry various types of field equipment, tools, and supplies.
 
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, and must comply with company safety policies;
 
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in writing, via electronic media, and in conversation.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Preconstruction surveys, cultural resources monitoring, report preparation, agency consultation, and regulatory compliance.
